Earlham's "Beauty & the Beast" production earns honors

Earlham High School Drama Department will participate in the 2018 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase, presented by EMC Insurance Companies, in honor of the school's achievements for its November production of “Beauty and the Beast.” 

Produced by Des Moines Performing Arts as the culmination of a year-long education initiative, the Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Monday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. and will recognize a total of 68 schools from across the entire state.

Danielle Geneser, Jordan Reynolds, and Kaylee Hohertz will represent Earlham by performing in a collaborative inter-school medley led by guest Broadway music director, Adam Jones, and choreographer, Sara Brians.

Kristen Allison will exhibit her award-winning work as Technical Director as part of the showcase's Technical and Creative Achievement Gallery.

Earlham will also be recognized with the following awards and honors:

Special Recognition for Performance in a Principal Role — Joshua Woolcott as “Gaston”

Special Recognition for Community Engagement

Tickets to the Showcase, which start at $15, will go on sale on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 9 AM at DMPA.org, the Civic Center Ticket Office, and by phone at 515-246-2300.

For the first time, the Showcase will be live-streamed at Iptv.org as part of an exciting collaboration with Iowa Public Television. IPTV will air a highlights special of the evening later this summer.
