New Daily Student Arrival Plan for 2017-18 School Year

New Daily Student Arrival Plan for 2017-18 School Year
Posted on 08/17/2017

The safety of the students is always a top priority for the school district. Policies and procedures are put in place and practiced for emergency situations such as fire, severe weather and reunification with parents in such emergencies.  Although no district has protocols in place for every possible scenario, the district is always working to improve.

Due to the ongoing construction project, the district is implementing a new arrival plan to insure student safety and effective traffic flow.  This plan will be in place for the full 2017-18 school year.

Buses will arrive at the school around 7:55 am to unload students near the crosswalk between the greenhouse and band room on the west side of the school near the playground.

  • All students eating breakfast will go directly to the school cafeteria.

  • PS-5th grade students will use the crosswalk and enter the playground on the north side.

  • 6th grade students will go to the school commons.

  • Middle school and high school students will go into the school and report to the cafeteria.

Parents dropping students off will use the circle drive on the southwest side of the school and drop off by the new entrance canopy.

  • Students eating breakfast will enter the school using the sidewalk between the greenhouse and the bandroom.

  • PS-5th grade students will follow the sidewalk to the greenhouse and use the crosswalk to enter the north side of the playground.

  • 6th grade students will follow the sidewalk to the greenhouse and go into the school to the school commons.

  • Middle school and high school students will follow the sidewalk to the greenhouse and go into the school and report to the cafeteria.

We will have adult supervision in these areas and on the playground.  Parents will leave the school by circling around the flagpole similar to dismissal time and exit out onto 4th street.  Parents will not be allowed to drive straight through to drop off students near the existing weight room.  If parents need to drop off near the weight room, they must enter through the west side of the parking lot near the water tower and exit to 6th Street.

Bike racks are located between the greenhouse and band room.

Note: No student should be in the building or on the playground without supervision prior to 7:45 am.  Adult supervision will begin at 7:45 am.
